What We're Looking For
Electrical Engineer with power and lighting design experience, engineering analysis skills related to electrical power infrastructure and communications network, for commercial, institutional or transportation facilities. Responsible for technical design associated with electrical engineering efforts in cooperation with multi-disciplinary team. Coordinates preparation of design details, calculations, drawings and specifications for electrical designs.

Primary Focus Includes:
  • Transportation infrastructure and facilities including road, rail, transit and airport projects
  • Existing electrical system evaluation including review of as-built data, field investigations and condition assessments
  • Engineering analysis including power models and load flow analysis for power distribution systems
  • Power system design including controls and fire alarm systems
  • Electrical infrastructure for transportation facilities and EV charging stations
  • Electronic Toll Systems (ETS) and Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) projects.
  • Lighting design including calculations for lighting systems and associated controls, selection of equipment and luminaires for lighting systems

Project Responsibilities Include:
  • Develop basis of design reports for electrical and/or communications systems
  • Plans, calculations, specifications and estimate for construction packages
  • Power systems design including panels layouts, cable/conduit schedule, single line diagrams and drawing details for electrical design
  • Lead technical communication with client for electrical design components
  • Sizing and selection of on-site power generation systems
  • Communications design including fiber optic cable and wireless Ethernet based communications networks to support ETS and ITS deployments
  • Support project construction phase including RFI and Submittal reviews

Preferred Qualifications and Skills
  • 5 years of relevant experience
  • PE in the State of California
  • Bachelor's Design in Electrical Engineering
  • Experience with e-TAP, AGI32 or related software
  • Familiarity with IEEE standards and FHWA Systems Engineering guidelines

What You'll Need

Essential Responsibilities:
  • Completes assigned work within the schedule and number of hours provided.
  • Assist in the development of project specifications.
  • Responsible for development of discipline specific engineering project elements/deliverables such as reports, designs, and plans.
  • Aids in the coordination and productivity of project team members.
  • Provides technical guidance to less experienced engineering project team members.
  • Works closely with other disciplines and on multi-discipline projects.
  • Performs quality control reviews of discipline - specific engineering project elements/deliverables.
  • Assists with coordination and planning of schedules, hours, and distribution of work within discipline.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering and 4 years of relevant experience
  • Master's degree in Engineering and 3 year of relevant experience
  • PhD in Engineering and 2 years of relevant experience

  • Being tech savvy by showing proficiency in using and customizing tools for design efficiency on the job, understanding what software applications are needed to accomplish tasks, and knowing which software to use for various applications and its limitations. Comfortable learning new software and hardware.
  • Optimizes work processes by using knowledge of the most effective and efficient ways to get things done with a focus on continuous improvement.
  • Understands and is able to coordinate interdisciplinary efforts.
  • Independently progresses the majority of designs and tasks required of the discipline.
  • Exhibits experience with Microsoft Office Suite, and MicroStation and/or AutoCad.
  • Exhibits a thorough understanding of the application related to engineering, geometric and algebraic principles.
  • Manages time, proactively forecasting, and communicating project development needs.
