At LCRA, we are currently seeking a highly motivated Mechanical Engineer to join our generation department! Working as a generation engineer at LCRAis a key function to support the reliable supply of electricity for the people of Central Texas. The LCRA Hydro facilities use vintage equipment with modern updates to perform in the competitive Texas electric market. It will be an exciting time as the units adapt to evolving market needs.

This position requires performing variety of engineering assignments including but not limited to field investigation, troubleshooting, report writing, design calculations, and drawing plans and details. There will be opportunities to learn on the job, use engineering principles, and great comradery with co-workers. You will be trusted to:

  • Devises new approaches to problems encountered.
  • Plans and designs engineering projects, Performs engineering and design work. Conducts field analysis, inspections, and performance tests. Records, compiles, and reports information. Develops testing plans. Interprets engineering specifications.
  • Prepares technical specifications for project services, equipment, and materials. Completes related computations and drafts schematics and diagrams.
  • Coordinates project reviews and implementation plans between individuals and sections. Ensures timely communications occur, as needed, on project activities.
  • Interprets engineering drawings and manufacturers specifications for field personnel. Coordinates and reviews the work of Engineering Associates to the extent of assuming professional responsibility for the work.
  • Prepares and revises operating procedures and project outlines in connection with engineering assignments.
  • May perform confined space entry.

Requirements

You qualify with:

  • Licensed Professional Engineer in the State of Texas plus eight or more years of post-Bachelors engineering experience relating to the area of engineering specialization required to perform the job, including providing technical leadership in engineering.  
  • Driver's license

You are a great fit with:

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering with eight years’ experience in a related field.
  • Experience in Hydro Generation is a plus!
