Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) is a multidisciplinary research institution engaged in science and engineering on behalf of national security. We are currently seeking a motivated Scientist to lead chemical compatibility analysis efforts and report writing and/or data science initiatives in Los Alamos, NM.


  • Address various problems with research, monitoring or technology, document review and understanding in chemical compatibility
  • Willing to work around transuranic waste or hazardous waste
  • Understanding of RCRA compliance
  • Understanding of chemistry compatibility and identifying incompatibilities in waste packaging
  • Developing innovative concepts, theories, methods, techniques, and approaches to address problems, while expanding on existing efforts or establishing novel research directions
  • Ability to mentor junior staff, peers, and students
  • Willingness to work in a nuclear laboratory

Education/Experience at lower level:
Positions requires a Bachelor' degree in a STEM field from an accredited college and university and 4 years of related experience, typically with post-doctoral research experience at a university or national lab or equivalent experience directly related to the occupation.

Education/Experience at higher level:
Position requires a Master's degree in a STEM field from an accredited college or university and 6 years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience working in support of hazardous waste management and/or within a nuclear facility
  • An active DOE Q-Clearance
