Crawfordsville Electric Light & Power is a municipally owned electric utility located in Montgomery County in west central Indiana. In existence since 1890, CEL&P has over 9,600 customer accounts. With 138KV transmission and 13.8KV distribution, CEL&P has a system peak load of 85 MW, serving residential, commercial and industrial loads including: Acuity Brand Lighting, Closure Systems International, Crawford Industries, Crown Beverage Packing, Friction Holdings, Heritage Products, Nor-Cote, Pace Dairy, Plastic Innovations, R. R. Donnelley, Random House, Sommer Metalcraft and Temple-Inland as well as Wabash College and St. Clare Hospital. 65 dedicated and hardworking employees accomplish this task and contributed greatly to CEL&P being awarded the Reliable Public Power Provider designation by the American Public Power Association twice consecutively. CEL&P has a separate division, Accelplus, operating a FTTH system and providing high speed internet access and television services to 2300 customers and is still growing. CEL&P is very involved in the community and continually receives excellent ratings in customer surveys.
