Palm Beach Resource Recovery Corporation (PBRRC) is a wholly owned subsidiary of The Babcock & Wilcox Company (B&W) and a contractor to The Solid Waste Authority of Palm Beach County (SWA), West Palm Beach, Florida.
As a contractor to the SWA, it is the business of PBRRC to operate and maintain the Palm Beach County waste-to-energy facility—a solid waste recycling and incinerating facility. In so doing, it is the business of PBRRC to extract recyclable materials from the waste stream, to process and shred burnable material, to incinerate the non-recycled material, and through this process, to generate electrical power that is sold to Florida Power & Light.
Company History
Palm Beach Resource Recovery Corporation (PBRRC) was established in November 1989 as a subsidiary of The Babcock & Wilcox Company (B&W) and a contractor to The Solid Waste Authority of Palm Beach County (SWA). Under its long-term contract with the SWA, Palm Beach Resource Recovery Corporation operates and maintains the Palm Beach County municipal solid waste processing plant and power generation facility located in West Palm Beach, Florida.
PBRRC employs approximately 160 fulltime employees. As employees of a subsidiary within the Babcock & Wilcox organization, PBRRC employees enjoy the familiarity of being part of the smaller local establishment, while benefiting from the programs afforded them as employees of a large corporation.
